Entrepreneurs not only know the answer to cure America s economic malaise, they are the answer. Coach Blackwell, helps you swim upstream in good economic times and bad. Your future prosperity is not determined by the economy as much as your knowledge about why entrepreneurs succeed or fail. Derived from decades of research and practical experience, this book is for three types of readers 1. People with the dream of starting a business 2. Owners of existing firms wanting to grow larger 3. Investors wanting to grow their savings (and anyone who wants to know how to be prosperous instead of poor) Investing in entrepreneurs can be as profitable as being one when you understand the S Curve of Entrepreneurial Growth to identify firms turning a thousand dollar investment into millions in return. Young readers discover how to be an Einstein at investing and mature readers learn how to prevent their retirement income from expiring before they do. Nothing is as practical as good theory, tested in the laboratory of the market place. Building a firm without knowing entrepreneurial theory is as dangerous as building an airplane without knowing aerodynamics and structural engineering. Theories are validated with success principles at Apple, Aldi, CheckFree (Fiserve), Google and Walmart and many less-familiar firms. From to Worthington Industries, Blackwell shows how to implement down-to-earth principles empowering ordinary women and men to rise to extraordinary heights. In conversations with this master teacher learn how to create fortunes with centrifugal growth, turn customers into fans, learn multi-market segmentation, study the polarity of retailing, and participate in global thinking. You ll understand why cash is king, the potentially lethal disease of "restaurantitis", and the underlying strategy causing 's success.

I read "Saving America"as I was interested by the title. I find that the author is a much sought after American marketing expert. My background is technical, with no formal training in marketing. Much to my surprise I found myself intrigued and captivated by this authors understanding and validated documenting of what we face in America today. The presentation is powerful and easy to comprehend,A lot of news reporters can convey what is wrong with America, but few if any offer viable non partisan solutions. It just isn't fashionable at times for these people to convey the positive. The author here has chosen to be a part of the solution, rather taking the easy route as most of the negative attention getting authors and news people.
Saving America is seemingly an easy read, as it is a conversation between the author and reader. The researched, validated and documented business successes therein are extremely interesting. I found myself re reading chapters, like a student of Marketing 101 just to confirm that I actually understood what I read. I feel like I took the class and earned an "A". It all makes sense now.
This "Saving "America "should be a required reading in every school, by everyone from teenagers, to corporate America, entrepreneurs, politicians, and government employees. Dr. Roger Blackwell's message is right on. It is amazing to me, that no politician, news person or intelligent academia has conveyed this message as simply conveyed by this author.
If you still believe in the American Dream, then this book is singled out as a must read. You will not be disappointed. You will keep and value your copy.

Saving America How Garage Entrepreneurs Grow Small Firms Into Large Fortunes eBook Roger Blackwell Reviews
Out of the countless books I've read, only a few have ever been "hard to put down", this is one of them. It's for anyone looking for insights into the "stuff" necessary to successfully start and/or grow a business. The author provides a crystal clear perspective of what successful entrepreneurs are like, before and after they achieve success. He discusses a broad range of business topics including how the macro economy works and is measured, marketing, growth strategies, financial fundamentals, and the challenge America's job engine faces. Great value
Before you do another thing to draft your business plan, read this book.
Before you hit up friends and family to invest in your big business idea, read this book.
Before you pick that next stock to invest in, read this book.
If you think, however, that you already have plenty of business insight and can't benefit from an educator and consultant with a track record of proven success... well ... read this book anyway (no doubt, you will come away with an epiphany or two that will generate a great return on your investment in it).
This is an easy read and an entertaining read. In very plain English, Roger Blackwell will share with you a blueprint for creating a more successful business, investing more wisely, and getting your piece of the American dream.
A must read for business students, business owners, and investors.
With 4 decades of teaching, research, business consulting and public speaking experience, Roger distilled important marketing and business concepts and theories into their essence, and explained everything in an easy-to-understand, informal, yet informative style. Also provided so many excellent examples to support the theory.
Every time you read and re-read this book, you will pick up few more secrets in creating a successful business.
The book is so good, I ordered another 25 for my EMBA class!
The book costs $19. But it will help you make/save at least 1000 times of the price of the book, guaranteed.
Was enjoying the book but after getting to the high 4,000+ pages the content started to repeat itself. For example, the location 678 and 4703; 690 and 4715.
I love this book!
Roger Blackwell gives a sense of order and opportunity to what so often seems anymore to be a chaotic, throwaway world. It’s so Horatio Alger old school and square that it may become hip again, like stitching bootstraps onto a pair of Chuck Taylor high tops. But as the title implies, it has to become hip again – we’ll all be better off when more of us decide to become savers and doers, engaged with each other, instead of spenders and consumers, focused mainly on self.
In writing about his “demand chain” (as opposed to a supply chain), Roger shows by a series of motivational case studies how start-ups can launch and then thrive by focusing on first their customers and then their employees. We’ve all heard of venture capital and crowdfunding – with this service ethic, Roger would have people think in terms of customer capital and customerfunding.
Throughout the book, the other key virtue along with customer focus (or really service to others) is thrift. Work and learn with a customer-driven business, and invest your savings in like-minded, principled businesses. From there, if conditions permit, if you have your own ideas on meeting a group of customers’ needs, you will be in a better position to start small and persevere with your own enterprise - or fail and bounce back again better for the experience.
A great deal has been written about crony capitalism, and that incumbent firms may actually impede rather than prompt great breakthroughs. In Chapters 14-16, we have some crony and incumbency antidotes with great studies in cash management, the power of motivated people and the diffusion of innovation.
This will be one of two books I will get each of my five children (currently ages 7-17) when they graduate from high school, if I haven’t had them read my copy in the meantime.
This is one of the best business books I have read. Great examples of how great entrepreneurs took a simple idea and developed it into very sucessful businesses.
